On Saturday the Auburn University swimming and diving team announced six captains for the 2016-2017 season.

Leading the men will be Kyle Darmondy, Joe Patching, and Will McKinney. On the women’s side, Tasha LloydKristen Murslack, and Ashley Neidigh will take the leadership role. McKinney is the only junior of the bunch while the rest are seniors.

Sergio Lopez, who has just moved to Auburn from Singapore this season made the announcement on his Instagram.

At the 2016 SEC Championships, the Auburn women finished fourth while the men were second. At NCAAs the women only turned in enough points for 33rd and the men left Atlanta in tenth. Lopez, who this summer helped Texas’ Joseph Schooling to Olympic gold, is hoped to be a crucial part of the rebuilding program.
