AT&T National Diving Championships Kick Off With Prelims in Synchro Events

LOS ANGELES, California, August 10. THE 2011 AT&T National Diving Championships kicked off Tuesday with preliminaries in all four synchronized diving events. The top six teams in each synchro event advance to the finals.

In the men's 3-meter synchro prelims, Troy Dumais (Ventura, Calif./Austin, Texas) and Kristian Ipsen (Clayton, Calif./Austin, Texas) scored 405.78 points to lead the qualifiers. Chris Colwill (Brandon, Fla./Athens, Ga.) and Drew Livingston (The Woodlands, Texas/Austin, Texas) were second with 388.74 points, and Dwight Dumais (Ventura, Calif./Austin, Texas) and Justin Dumais (Ventura, Calif./Orlando, Fla.) qualified third at 364.98.

Summer Allman (Lansing, Mich.) and Amanda Burke (Southampton, Pa./Indianapolis, Ind.) led the women's synchronized 3-meter qualifiers with 287.79 points, with Kassidy Cook (The Woodlands, Texas) and Cassidy Krug (Coraopolis, Pa./Stanford, Calif.) taking second at 281.04. Kathryn Connolly (San Antonio, Texas) and Laura Ryan (Elk River, Minn./Bloomington, Ind.) scored 260.10 for third.

Women's synchronized 10-meter was the closest contest of the day, as Jessica Parratto (Dover, N.H./Indianapolis, Ind.) and Anna James (Midland, Texas) scored 279.90 to finish 3.60 points ahead of second-place Amy Cozad (Decatur, Ind./Bloomington, Ind.) and Amy Korthauer (Naperville, Ill./Bloomington, Ind.). Kendall McClenney (The Woodlands, Texas) and Emma Ivory-Ganja (The Woodlands, Texas) were third at 248.94.

David Boudia (Noblesville, Ind./West Lafayette, Ind.) and Nick McCrory (Chapel Hill, N.C./Durham, N.C.) finished atop the standings in men's synchronized 10-meter with 462.72 points. Livingston and Thomas Finchum (Indianapolis, Ind.) were second with 400.02 points, and Steele Johnson (Carmel, Ind.) and Toby Stanley (Conway, Ark./Indianapolis, Ind.) scored 396.33 points for third.

Women's 10-meter synchro finals are set for Thursday, men's 10-meter synchro finals on Friday, women's 3-meter synchro on Saturday and men's 3-meter synchro on Sunday.

The AT&T National Diving Championships continue through Sunday, August 14. Wednesday's competition features quarterfinals and semifinals in both men's and women's platform.
