Atlanta Pool Shutdown Relaxed

ATLANTA, Georgia, February 7. RECENTLY, Swimming World posted a passionate letter from Franke Marsden of Atlanta Swimming explaining the potential pool shutdown this summer in Atlanta.

According to a report in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue "offered a reprieve from the near-total ban on outdoor watering to the landscape industry, gardeners and thousands of neighborhood swimming pool associations, swim teams and private pool owners."

He was also quote as saying, "Swim, kids, swim," in the article.

A drought in the area has forced community leaders to look at various possible water-conservation tactics within the region. At one point, community pools were in the crosshairs as one place water could be conserved.
