Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics’ Amelia Butler Commits to Wheaton College
NEW COMMIT: Wheaton College has scored a new commitment for the 2020-21 season and beyond from Amelia Butler of New York, N.Y.
Butler does her club swimming with Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics and concluded her summer season with a best time at both the Eastern Senior Zone Championships and the Metropolitan Senior Championships. Last winter, she finaled in the 50 free at the Metropolitan Winter Championships before going on to race three events at Ithaca Speedo Sectionals.
She told Swimming World:
“I’m beyond grateful to announce my official commitment to Wheaton College Swim & Dive. From the first moment I stepped on campus I could already feel the love and support from the team. Can’t wait to spend the next 4 as a Lyon! Let’s go Wheat!!!”
Her best times include:
- 100 back – 59.65
- 50 free – 24.17
- 100 free – 52.73
Butler will add valuable depth both individually and on relays when she arrives on campus as a member of the class of 2024. She would’ve scored in the A-final of the 50 free and 100 free as well as the B-final of the 100 back at the 2019 NEWMAC Championships where Wheaton finished second overall in the team standings.
