Ashley Hall Named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin, May 21. SENIOR Ashley Hall of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's diving team was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the organization announced today. This marks the first time a Milwaukee diver/swimmer has ever earned the prestigious first-team distinction two times in a career.

Hall dove her way to eight different victories on the season, giving her 21 wins in just two years as a Panther. She was named Horizon League Co-Diver of the Meet at the 2009 league championships after winning the three-meter and taking third on the one-meter board.

The academic accolades continue to roll in, as she was selected to the Academic All-Horizon League team as a junior and senior last month. Hall has won league diver of the week eight times in her two years and was also tabbed Scholar-Athlete of the Week four times, with both totals being league-highs. Hall is a Dean's List member who carries the highest cumulative GPA on the women's team of anyone who qualified for the honor.

The academic awards may continue as all members honored as First Team Academic All-District will appear in CoSIDA's national ballot for the Academic All-America Women's At-Large Team, which will be announced in mid-June.

Hall, a business major with a 3.96 GPA, was the only Horizon League student-athlete to be named to the two ESPN The Magazine at-large teams Thursday. In addition to being the first-ever UWM swimmer or diver to make the first team twice in a career, she will look to be the first honored on a national squad since Sarah Caldwell earned third-team honors in 2004.
