Ashley Boddiford announced that she has committed to swim at the Naval Academy beginning next fall. Boddiford is primarily a backstroker who figures to be a big contributor for the Midshipmen right away.

A native of Oviedo, Fla., Boddiford swims for Blue Dolphin Aquatics. Her best times over the past year include a 57.29 in the 100 back and 2:00.66 in the 200 back. She also has solid times of 2:04.76 in the 200 IM and 4:28.49 in the 400 IM.
Boddiford figures to be the top backstroker and IMer on her team from the beginning. She has swum under 2:00 in the past 200 back in the past, so she could be a contender for an ECAC title in that event from the beginning as only one swimmer cracked that barrier last season. She also figures to be a potential championship-finalist in each of her other events as a freshman.
Boddiford’s best swim this year came in early June when she qualified for Olympic Trials with a 2:14.75 in the 200-meter back. Boddiford ended up touching in 2:18.84 to finish 100th in the event in Omaha.
