Arkansas Corrals North Texas With Strong Win

FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas, October 6. THE Arkansas Razorbacks rolled through North Texas on Saturday morning with a 207-91 victory, including wins in all but one event.

“They swam well as a team in regards to the first 16-event dual of the season,” head coach Sean Schimmel said. “They did a good job in preparation and execution. That was what I was looking for.”

Nicole Menzel turned in a double to lead the Razorbacks on the day. She captured a win in the 200-yard free with a 1:52.92, while also checking in with a title in the 500 freestyle (5:05.33).

Anna Mayfield also doubled up during the meet with a backstroke sweep. She clocked a 56.49 in the 100 back and 2:00.99 in the 200 back after leading off Arkansas’ winning 200 medley relay with a 26.77 50-yard backstroke leg.

Susanna White also picked up a pair of individual titles. She crushed the 50-yard free field with a 23.69, winning by more than a second. She then won the 100 fly by nearly two seconds with a 56.75.

“This was good for us to get our routine down and get our timeline down,” Schimmel said. “We’ve got a lot of work to do for our first SEC competition.”

North Texas’ lone triumph came by way of 288.60 points from Rebecca Taylor on the three-meter diving event.
