Arkady Vyatchanin of New York Athletic Club, who won the men’s 100-meter back, admits to having a better feeling stroke in his prelims swim. He credits a change in tempo to his time drop and victory.

Vyatchanin moved up four spots from his prelims swim to take gold over second-place finisher David Plummer.
