Arizona State Men’s Swimming Given Short Term Goal

TEMPE, Arizona, May 29. ANOTHER development in the movement to Save Arizona State men's swimming occurred last night during a meeting with an athletics department representative.

The athletics department and Save ASU Swimming are working on a potential three-year deal to allow for a step-by-step process by which the program can ultimately be saved for good.

The team is shooting for about $250,000 a year for the course of three years, and as of this morning the team has almost reached that goal for the first year with $170,000 already donated.

Should ASU Swimming be able to secure guarantees for funding over the course of the three years at $250,000 per year, the program can then focus on the long-term goal of raising $5 million to secure the team after those three years.

According to Nick Brunelli, on top of the $170,000 raised for next year, the team has secured long-term commitments for nearly $83,000 for the second year and $50,000 for the third year.
