Antonio Saint Aubyn Swim From Margarita To Venezuela

MARGARITA ISLAND, Venezuela. July 14. ANTONIO Saint Aubyn, a 36-year-old swimming coach from Cuman?, Venezuela, completed an unprecedented 63 km (39-mile) wetsuit swim between Punta de Piedras on Margarita Island (Isla de Margaria) and Cumanagoto Marina in Cuman? City on the mainland of Venezuela yesterday under ideal conditions.

He started at 2:28 pm on July 13th and finished at 11:10 am on July 14th on his 20 hour 42 minute solo swim.

Representatives from the Federacion Venezolana de Natation, Fundaci?n para Deporte del Estado Sucre, del Instituto Nacional de Espacios Acu?ticos, and Vigilancia Costera de la Guardia Nacional Bolivariana sanctioned, observed and ratified the swim.

“The crossing was a bit complicated in the Gulf of Cariaco because the surf was fairly active and strong, but people took to the water to protect me, trying to help me with the tide.”
