Andrey Tretyakov has given his verbal commitment to the University of Alabama. Tretyakov is an in-state talent for the Crimson Tide. He swims for Madison Swimming Association where he was a 2016 Olympic Trials qualifier in the 100 butterfly. The high school senior also added the 50 free and 100 breaststroke to his line up at Junior Nationals this summer.

Tretyakov shared,

“I committed to the University Of Alabama because when I visited them, I felt a strong sense of family and unity. Each swimmer on the team pushes one another with the help of an outstanding and knowledgeable coaching staff. They pursue to be the best in not only the pool, but in their academics as well. The University of Alabama so much to offer academically and athletically so I’m thrilled to be part of the Crimson Tide family and am looking forward to the next chapter in my life.”

His top times are:

  • 100 Fly 48.07
  • 200 Fly 1:49.85
  • 100 Breast 56.35
  • 200 Breast 2:06.88
  • 200 IM 1:49.98

At SECs last year, the Tide finished fourth. Tretyakov will join a butterfly group that will still include Luke Kaliszak and Laurent Bams next fall. All of Alabama’s 2016 SEC 100 breaststrokers will have graduated by the time Tretyakov arrives on campus.
