Amy Riordan Is Going to South Carolina With 2022 Verbal to the Gamecocks

NEW COMMIT: Futures qualifier Amy Riordan of Martinez, Ga. has announced her verbal commitment to the University of South Carolina beginning in the fall of 2022.

She will join in-stater Sterling Burd of Hilton Head, S.C. as a member of the Gamecock’s Class of 2026.

She told Swimming World:

“I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the university of South Carolina! I’m super stoked to work under such a great coaching staff there! I’d like to thank my parents, coaches, friends and teammates who helped make this possible! go gamecocks and spurs up!️??

A versatile swimmer, Riordan does her club swimming with Aiken-Augusta Swim League and placed sixth in the 200m back at the TYR 18&U Spring Cup in Orlando earlier this spring after finaling in five events at Cary Sectionals. She also won the 200 free and 500 free at the 18&U Winter Championships – SC TG in December.

In Summer 2019, she collected two gold medals at the Southern Zone Age Group Championships.

Her best times include:

  • 100 free – 51.87
  • 200 free – 1:49.54
  • 500 free – 4:59.03
  • 100 back – 56.90
  • 200 back – 2:03.72
  • 100 fly – 56.93
  • 200 IM – 2:08.82
  • 400 IM – 4:30.60

Riordan is also a rising senior at Augusta Preparatory Day School. At the Georgia Independent Schools Championship this past season, she won the 500 free and was the 200 free runner-up.

The Gamecocks are also bringing in Paige CollinsMaddie Pierce and Makenzy Mills as members of their Class of 2025, so Riordan will have three years of overlap with them.
