Alexander Dale Oen Remembered, Laid to Rest in Blomvag — With Video Link

OYGARDEN, Norway, May 11. WORLD champion Alexander Dale Oen was laid to rest today following a two-hour funeral service in Dale Oen's hometown of Oygarden, attended by 300 friends and family.

Funeral attendees at Blomvag Church included Swimming Norway President Per Rune Eknes and Noryrtland Kruchten, president of the European Swimming League. Teammates who attended the training camp in Flagstaff, Ariz., where Dale Oen died on April 30 were also at the funeral, as well as Dale Oen's immediate family.

The funeral service was broadcast live on Norwegian television station TV2 and on its website. A closed-circuit simulcast was also shown to about 2,000 people at nearby Kollsnes Hall.

Dale Oen was buried at a nearby cemetery with the casket carried by teammates and family.
