NEW COMMIT: Talon Lindquist is choosing to spend his college career in a very different environment. The backstroker from Kodiak, Alaska has given his verbal commitment to the University of Hawaii.

Lindquist is a senior at Kodiak High School and swims for Kodiak Kingfishers Swim Team.

His best times include:

  • 200 Back 1:46.87
  • 100 Back 49.22
  • 400 IM 3:55.23
  • 200 IM 1:50.75
  • 500 Free 4:30.69
  • 200 Fly 1:53.28

The Kodaik High School boys won the Alaska High School swimming state championship last November. Lindquist was the driving force of those efforts, winning the 100 backstroke (49.50) and dominating the 200 freestyle (1:39.78).

At Speedo Sectionals in Federal Way last March Lindquist finished fourth in the 200 back and was fifth in the 100 back.

At last year’s MPSF Championships Lindquist would have finished seventh in the 200 backstroke. Hawaii sophomore Metin Aydin (1:41.92) won the event and was joined in the A final by freshman Kane Follows (1:45.83). Lindquist will have time to train with both of them. He also would have been seventh in the 100 back. Aydin (47.11) was second in that event, Micah Ornelas (48.37) was fourth, and Follows (49.15) was fifth.
