Air Force Women’s Swimming Signs 12 Recruits

The Air Force women’s swimming and diving teams are proud to announce the 12 members of the Class of 2019, as announced by head coaches Casey Converse and Stan Curnow. The class of 2019 arrived at the Academy on June 25 to begin Basic Cadet Training.

Swimmers

Elisabeth Brechbuhl – Norwich, VT (homeschooled) – Distance Freestyler

  • Top times – 200 Free 1:52.65, 500 Free 4:58.60, 1650 Free 17:07.27
  • New Hampshire State Champion in the 500 Free all four years of high school and won the 200 Free three times in high school
  • Captain of high school and club swim teams
  • Both parents graduated from Army West Point,
  • Brother graduated from USAFA and sister is  USAFA Class of 2017; Aunt also graduated from USAFA

Jessica Chen – Colorado Springs, CO (Rampart HS) – Sprint Freestyle

  • Top times – 50 Free 24.26 and 100 Free 53.03
  • Holds the 5A Metro meet record in the 50 Free
  • All-State performer at the Colorado High School  Championships
  • Sectional Qualifier
  • Graduated with Honors, IB Diploma

Maddie Hoff – Jacksonville, FL (Bolles School) – Breastroke/IM

  • Top Times – 100 Breast 1:04.96 200 Breast 2:21.68 and 200 IM 2:06.22
  • All-State Florida high school swimming in the 100 Breast and 200 IM
  • Junior National and Sectional qualifier
  • Brother attends USAFA and competes on the track team

Elizabeth Mahoney – Plymouth, MA (Sturgis West High School) – IM/Butterfly

  • Top times – 400 IM 4:30.34, 100 Fly 58.29 and 200 Fly 2:07.24
  • Holds the Cape Cod Swim Club all-time records in 100 and 200 Fly
  • Sectional qualifier in the fly and IM
  • Graduated with Honors, IB diploma

Gabrielle Miller – Granite Bay, CA (Granite Bay HS) – Breastroke/Mid-Free

  • Top times – 100 breast 1:07.92 and 200 Breast 2:25.92
  • High School team won California Sectionals

Cailtin Myers – Niceville, FL (Niceville HS) (USAFA Prep School) – Sprint Free

  • Top times – 50 Free 23.92, 100 Free 52.33, 200 Free 1:54.54
  • Scholastic All-American in the 50 free
  • Junior National Qualifer, Sectional Qualifier
  • Finished 3rd at the Florida High School State meet
  • Dad is a retired colonel from the Air Force

Mary Charlotte Pepper – Elizabethtown, KY (Elizabethtown HS) – Distance Free/IM

  • Top Times – 500 Free 5:04.76, 1000 Free 10:21.28, 1650 Free 17:24.90
  • 2015 Select Prep Swimmer of the Year, five-time Kentucky State Champion
  • Kentucky Athletic- Academic All Star four years

Georgia Sims – Milton, GA (Rivers Academy) – IM/Breastroke

  • Top Times – 200 IM 2:10.57, 400 IM 4:32.94, 200 Breast 2:26.07
  • Ranked No. 2 in her senior class
  • Sectional Qualifier
  • Also played high school golf, was team MVP for two years and was placed second  individually at the State Championships

Emma Strom – Fort Walton Beach, FL (Choctawhatchee HS) – IM/Backstroke

  • Top Times – 100 Back 55.64, 200 Back 2:02.85, 200 IM 2:04.89, 400 IM 4:25.31
  • Florida High School State Champion in the 100 Back 2013, runner-up 2014
  • Junior National Qualifier, Sectional Qualifier
  • Brother, Alex, was a swimmer and graduated from USAFA this past May and sister, Olivia, is USAFA Class of 2016, and a member of the swim team.

Marie Guerrero – Transfer from SUNY-Binghampton – Freestyle

  • Top time – 100 free 55.04
  • Competed at the America East Championships last season

Divers

Isabella (Bella) Farrell – Colorado Springs, Colo. (Palmer HS)

  • Class Valedictorian
  • One of the top six female divers in high school (Colorado)

Baily Nagle – Colorado Springs, Colo. (Air Academy HS)

  • Graduated in the top two percent of her class
  • Competed for the Mile High Diving Club
