Adam Peaty Headlines List of 2019 Mare Nostrum Tour Participants

The participant list for the 2019 Mare Nostrum Tour has been announced, with headliners including world-record holder Adam Peaty. The 2019 Mare Nostrum Tour will begin the 20th edition of the series in June, the next major international meet series after the FINA Champions Series wraps up in Indianapolis.

Monaco – June 8-9
Canet en Roussillon – June 11-12
Barcelona – June 15-16

Meet organizers for Monaco have released a list that features athletes from 32 different countries. Aside from Adam Peaty, other notable swimmers expected to compete include Brazilians Felipe Lima and Bruno Fratus as well as a strong Russian contingent that includes Evgeny Rylov and Yulia Efimova. Americans Tom Shields, Michael Andrew, and Madisyn Cox should also be making appearances throughout the series.

Many of these swimmers have been active in the recent FINA Champions Series, and this tour will provide another opportunity for them to earn more cash as the continue to prep for the 2019 World Championships.

The tour will give out bonuses to the top four men and women overall after the three spots with a top performer selected at the end of the series. The payouts for the Monaco stop can be seen below:

- 3rd – €1,000
- 4th – €500

The tour will also award bonuses for new meet records (€600), Mare Nostrum records (€750), the first European record (€3,000), and the first world record (€15,000).
