A10 Most Outstanding Performer Mia Bullock Transfers to Duke from Fordham
Fordham University’s Mia Bullock will be using her final year of athletic eligibility to swim for Duke University, while attending graduate school there this coming fall. She has an additional year of athletic eligibility remaining due to a medical redshirt from her junior year with the Rams.
Bullock will graduate from Fordham this May with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) Degree with a dual primary concentration in Economics and Marketing, and a secondary concentration in Finance. This fall she will be enrolled in Duke’s Fuqua School of Business where she will pursue her Masters of Management Studies (MMS).
Bullock told Swimming World:
“I knew that Duke was a place I would want to continue my academic and swimming careers. The unique academic curriculum and outstanding faculty are what drew me to Fuqua. Their swim team is very family-team oriented. After the first conversation I had with Coach Dan Collela I knew Duke was the right swimming program for me to continue my final year of eligibility. I could not be more excited to be a Blue Devil!”
This past season Bullock was the A10 Conference Most Outstanding Performer, posting individual wins in the 100-yard fly (53.03), 200-yard fly (1:57.60)- both new A10 records, and finishing third in the 100-yard breast (1:01.65). She was also a member of Fordham’s gold medal winning relays – 200-yard free relay (22.17), 400-yard free relay (49.18), and 400-yard medley relay (breast-1:00.82). Both the 200 free and 400 medley relays were also new A10 Conference records.
Bullock’s unique situation of coming into Duke’s program already a senior should provide immediate leadership to a team that will return 17 women from their 2020 ACC roster. At that meet her career bests would have placed her 15th in both the 100 fly and 100 breast, while placing 9th in the 200 fly. She will also add depth to Duke’s top relay teams this coming year.
Bullock does her club swimming for the Fairport Area Swim Team (FAST) in Fairport, NY (Rochester), where she is currently focused on qualifying for the 2021 Olympic Trials.
