The first night of the 2019 NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships will feature only one event with the timed finals of the 800 free relay set to go off. Cal is the top seed with Stanford sitting in second place as it is expected to come down between those two schools.

Cal swam with Isabel IveyRobin NeumannKatie McLaughlin and Amy Bilquist at Pac-12’s as it is uncertain if they will swim with those four again. Stanford swam with Taylor RuckElla EastinKatie Drabot and Brooke Forde at Pac-12’s. The relay orders have not been made public.

The winner of the 800 free relay at the last four NCAAs has gone on to win the national title with Cal (2015), Georgia (2016) and Stanford (2017-2018) winning those events. Tonight’s relay could be more than just a momentum boost for tomorrow’s prelims.
