2019 Men’s Pac-12 Swimming and Diving Championships: Seliskar Splits 1:30 as Cal Sweeps
The first night of the 2019 Men’s Pac-12 Swimming and Diving Championships was a short one with the 200 medley and 800 free relays going off. Cal won both relays as they are currently second in the 800 free relay in Division I. They will be in lane 5 at NCAAs in three weeks as Florida has the top time this season.
200 Medley Relay
Cal started the night with a 1:23.44 to win the 200 medley relay on Wednesday night at the Pac-12 Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships in Federal Way. Daniel Carr (21.30), Reece Whitley (23.62), Pawel Sendyk (19.92) and Ryan Hoffer (18.60) won the race for the Golden Bears as they were just a tick slower than their Georgia Invite time of 1:23.42. Cal remains in eighth place in Division I with that swim.
Southern California, the defending NCAA champions, finished in second at 1:23.85. Carsten Vissering (22.87) had a very quick breaststroke split as he almost out-split backstroker Patrick Mulcare (22.26). Vissering has the fastest split of all-time with his 22.58 from last year’s NCAAs.
Arizona State (1:24.20), Arizona (1:24.69) and Stanford (1:24.71) also competed. Utah was disqualified.
The quickest splits outside of Cal came from Arizona’s Thomas Anderson (21.45), USC’s Vissering (22.87), Arizona’s Chatham Dobbs (19.96) and USC’s Nikola Miljenic (18.65).
