The fourth morning of the 2019 FINA World Championships saw athletes competing in the women’s 200 fly, men’s 200 IM, men’s 100 free, women’s 50 back, and the mixed 400 medley relay.
The USA’s Hali Flickinger claimed the top seed in the women’s 200 fly, while Caeleb Dressel grabbed the top seed in the men’s 100 free. In a meet that has seen few gold medals for Team USA, the two have put themselves in good positions to add to Team USA’s collections.
Team USA veteran Matt Grevers added to that success with a strong leadoff leg in the mixed medley relay.
China’s Fu Yuanhui took the top seed in the women’s 50 back, while Laszlo Cseh stole the show in the men’s 200 IM prelims.
Throughout the entirety of the prelims session, Swimming World photographer Becca Wyant was on deck capturing the action and excitement, while Swimming World’s Craig Lord, John Lohn, Liz Byrnes and Andy Ross reported on the action from Gwangju, South Korea.
