The swimming portion of the 2019 FINA World Championships splashed into action today in Gwangju, South Korea with the day one preliminary session recently concluding. The first session featured preliminary heats of the women’s 200 IM, men’s 400 free, women’s 100 fly, men’s 50 fly, women’s 400 free, men’s 100 breast and the men’s and women’s 4×100 free relays.

Fan favorites like Adam Peaty, Katie Ledecky, Caeleb Dressel, and Sarah Sjostrom jumped to the top of their respective events in the preliminary heats.

Throughout the entirety of the preliminary session, Swimming World photographer Becca Wyant was on deck capturing the action and excitement, while Swimming World’s Craig Lord, John Lohn, Liz Byrnes and Andy Ross reported on the action.
