2017 Men’s Pac-12 Championships Day 1 – CAL Dominates Relays

The Pac-12 men’s championships opened in Federal Way, Wash., with finals in two relay events.

200 medley relay

Cal dominated the opening 200-yard medley relay to get the Pac-12 meet off to a fast start.

Ryan Murphy, Connor Hoppe, Justin Lynch and Pawel Sandyk finished the race in 1:22.31, nearly a second faster than runner-up Arizona.

The Wildcats took second at 1:23.34 behind Chatham Dobbs, Blair Bish, Chad Idensohn and JP Beach.

Stanford finished third as Ryan Dudzinski, Matt Anderson, Andrew Liang and Sam Perry finished in 1:23.62.

USC was fourth at 1:23.98 behind Ralf Tribuntsov, Carsten Vissering, Kyle Grissom and Santo Condorelli.

Arizona State finished fifth as Richard Bohus, Christian Lorenz, Andrew Porter and Patrick Park swam the race in 1:24.08.

Utah’s Paul Ungur, Jack Burton, Colten Montgomery and Mckay King took sixth (1:25.46).

800 freestyle relay

Cal’s Long Gutierrez, Andrew Seliksar, Michael Jensen and Ryan Murphy won the 800 freestyle relay in 6:12.07, besting the field by three seconds.

Stanford’s Grant Shoults, Tom Kremer, Abrahm DeVine and Liam Egan took second (6:15.09).

USC’s Dylan Carter, Michael Domagala, Patrick Mulcare and Reed Malone finished third (6:15.34).

Arizona State’s Cameron Craig, Richard Bohus, Tomaz Martins and Barkley Perry finished fourth (6:17.44).

Arizona took fifth behind Jorge Iga, Ricky Maestri, Nick Thorne and Thane Maudslien (6:19.21).

Utah’s Rahiti De Vos, Justin McArthur, Liam O’Haimhirgin and Austin Phillips were sixth (6:22.44).
