Women’s 200 free
Manuella Lyrio (1:58.43) and Larissa Oliveira (1:58.53) came into today with the only FINA A cuts for Brazil this year. Oliveira improved that time a bit with a 1:58.52 during prelims.
Jessica De Bruin (1:59.43), Katarina Listopadova (2:00.04), Gabrielle Goncalves (2:00.06), Rafaela Raurich (2:00.60), Maria Heitmann (2:00.67), Yang Junxuan (2:01.05) and Li Liuyuxin (2:01.07) also made finals.
Men’s 200 fly
Brazil now has two swimmers under the FINA A cut. Leonardo De Deus posted a 1:56.14 during the Brazil Open in December. Now, Kaio Almeida put up a 1:56.40 to also put himself in position to be on the Olympic squad.
Vinicius Lanza hit the wall second in a time of 1:58.18 with Luiz Altamir Melo taking third in 1:58.26.
De Deus (1:59.11), Arthur Mendes (1:59.24), Ryosuke Iai (1:59.45), Kaue Da Silva (1:59.67) and Marcos Ferrari (2:00.20) qualified fourth through eighth.
Women’s 200 IM
Joanna Maranhao has the only FINA A cut for Brazil right now with a 2:14.04 in the event. She led the way this morning with a 2:17.10.
Nathalia Almeida (2:17.73) and Barbora Zavadova (2:18.10) rounded out the top three.
Virginia Bardach (2:18.18), Gabrielle Goncalves (2:19.13), Florencia Perotti (2:19.61), Fernanda Carobino (2:20.95) and Fernanda Goeij (2:21.34) closed out the rest of the finalists.
