The heat sheets have been released for Thursday night’s finals at the AT&T Winter National Championships in Atlanta, the first finals session of the meet. Events on the program include the 500 free, 200 IM and 50 free, as well as heats of the 400 medley relay.
The top seeds in the 500 free include 16-year-old Erica Sullivan, who edged out Lindsey Clary in the morning prelims, 4:39.66 to 4:40.46, and Indiana’s Max Irwin. Olympian Melanie Margalis is the top seed in the women’s 200 IM, and Vini Lanza will swim out of lane four in the men’s race.
Amanda Weir and Tom Shields, also on the U.S. Olympic team this summer in Rio, will lead the way in the 50 free events.
