Minnesota State Champ Jiarui Xue Sends 2025 Verbal To Princeton

NEW COMMIT: Princeton University has secured a new verbal commitment* for Fall 2025 from Jiarui Xue of Edina, Minnesota. He specializes in distance freestyler and IM.

He’ll join Oliver Rowe as a member of the Tigers’s Class of 2029.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I’m thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to the admissions process at Princeton University! Thank you to all the people who supported me along the way including my family, friends, and all of my coaches over the years, especially Coach Kate. I would also like to express my gratitude to Coach Matt, Coach Chris, Coach Mia, and Coach Abby, for recruiting me and giving me this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Go Tigers!”

Xue trains year-round with Aquajets Swim Team and last competed at the NCSA Championships where he placed second in the 1500m free and 10th in the 200m free. He finished seventh in the mile and 10th in the 400 IM at Juniors West back in December.

His best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:38.84
  • 500 free – 4:25.19
  • 1000 free – 9:08.30
  • 1650 free – 15:16.85
  • 200 IM – 1:48.47
  • 400 IM – 3:53.53

Currently a junior at Edina High School, Xue won the 500 free and was the 200 IM runner-up at the Minnesota Class AA State Championships in both 2023 and 2024.

Xue’s top times would’ve placed ninth in the mile and 10th in the 1000 free, as well as in the C-final of the 500 free, at the 2024 Ivy League Championships.

*IVY LEAGUE DISCLAIMER:* A “verbal commitment” does not guarantee admission. An Ivy League coach cannot guarantee admission but can only commit support in the admissions process.
