USMS Nationals: Laura Val Leads Six Records on Final Day

The U.S. Masters Swimming (USMS) Summer National Championships concluded from Sarasota, Florida.

Laura Val continued her strong, record-setting masters career with one more world age-group record on the final night of competition. She wasn’t alone as several swimmers continued their record-setting swims.

Here are the records from Day 5 of Summer Nationals.

  • Chuck Barnes, New England Masters Swim Club: men’s 45-49 200 backstroke (2:12.67, USMS record)
  • Richard Burns, Tamalpais Aquatic Club: men’s 80-84 200 backstroke (3:04.57, World Aquatics world Masters record and USMS record)
  • Erika Braun, North Carolina Masters Swimming: women’s 50-54 100 freestyle (1:00.40, World Aquatics world Masters record and USMS record)
  • Laura Val, Tamalpais Aquatic Club: women’s 70-74 100 freestyle (1:06.68, World Aquatics world Masters record and USMS record)
  • Dave Noble, MOVY Masters: men’s 80-84 200 butterfly (3:54.46, US MS record)
  • Jane Oberg, Colorado Masters Swimming: women’s 85-89 400 IM (10:17.34, US MS record)

Swimmers in individual events were awarded points for first through tenth places as 11-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1, respectively. Relays will be awarded double points for first through tenth places as 22-18-16-14-12-10-8-6-4-2, respectively.

Club scoring will be tabulated in two categories (regional clubs and local clubs) and three divisions (men, women, and combined). Mixed relays score points only in the combined division.
