USMS Championships Day 3: Richard Burns Sets 3 Records, 2 for Chuck Barnes

The U.S. Masters Swimming (USMS) Summer National Championships continued from Sarasota, Florida with more records falling.

The meet runs through Aug. 6 at the Selby Aquatic Center in Sarasota.

Here are the records from Day 3 of Summer Nationals.

  • Richard Burns, Tamalpais Aquatic Masters: men’s 80-84 50 butterfly (34.39, World Aquatics world Masters record and USMS record)
  • Holly Green, Swamp Water Aquatics Gainesville: women’s 60-64 50 butterfly (29.90, World Aquatics world Masters record and USMS record)
  • Jane Oberg, Colorado Masters Swimming: women’s 85-89 50 butterfly (58.45, USMS record)
  • Karen Mareb, New England Masters Swim Club: women’s 65-69 200 breaststroke (3:19.03, USMS record)

Swimmers in individual events will be awarded points for first through tenth places as 11-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1, respectively. Relays will be awarded double points for first through tenth places as 22-18-16-14-12-10-8-6-4-2, respectively.

Club scoring will be tabulated in two categories (regional clubs and local clubs) and three divisions (men, women, and combined). Mixed relays score points only in the combined division.
