Scottsdale’s Alexa Markl Announces Verbal Commitment to University of Nevada
NEW COMMIT: The University of Nevada has added a verbal commitment from Alexa Markl. Markl is from Scottsdale, Arizona where she is a senior at Notre Dame Prep High School. She swims for Scottsdale Aquatic Club. Scottsdale teammates Shae Nicolaisen, Claire Grover, McKenzee Gordon, and Madison Leblanc have also given verbal commitments to college programs.
Markl will join a Nevada program also set to include freestyler/backstroker Lindsey Soule. Markl is also best in backstroke and freestyle. Her top times include:
- 200 Back 2:01.41
- 100 Back 56.65
- 50 Back 27.08
- 200 Free 1:53.60
- 100 Free 52.18
At last year’s Arizona Division 2 High school state championships Markl swam the backstroke leg of her team’s sixth place 200 medley relay. She also led off the ninth place 400 freestyle relay. Individually Markl was fifth in the 100 free in a lifetime best time, 52.18. In another best of 56.65 she earned bronze in the 100 backstroke.

“I chose the Univeristy of Nevada for the great swim team, coaches, and academics. I knew when I visited the campus that this was the perfect place for me to spend my college swimming career. I can’t wait to be a part of the Wolf Pack!!”
