Brazil Blasts To First in Mixed 400 Free Relay During Prelims at the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships

Brazil’s mixed relay team of Pedro Spajari (M, 49.74), Felipe Souza (M, 49.44), Rafaela Raurich (W, 56.28) and Maria Paula Heitmann (W, 55.61) topped the qualifiers list with a combined time of 3:31.07 in the mixed 400-meter free relay.

Russia’s relay team consisting of Aleksei Brianskii (M, 50.56), Evgenii Galchenko (M, 50.46), Daria Mullakaeva (W, 55.70) and Daria Ustinova (W, 54.87) took second overall in prelims with a time of 3:31.59.

Canada’s Javier Acevedo (M, 50.62), Markus Thormeyer (M, 49.52), Penny Oleksiak (W, 56.35) and Rebecca Smith (W, 55.19) posted a combined finishing time of 3:31.68 to claim the third place seed.

The USA relay team of Daniel Krueger (M, 50.01), Michael Jensen (M, 49.99), Kenisha Liu (W, 55.75) and Beata Nelson (W, 56.33) finished fourth overall in prelims after posting a time of 3:32.08.

The mixed relay team of Jack Cartwright (M, 49.78), Brayden McCarthy (M, 50.66), Gemma Cooney (W, 55.65) and Lucia Lassman (W, 57.34) from Australia finished fifth in prelims with a time of 3:33.43.

Italy finished sixth overall with a time of 3:34.98.

Germany took seventh with a time of 3:35.49, while China was eighth with a 3:37.73.
