China’s Zhang Yuhan smashed her meet record in the women’s 800-meter free at the 2015 World Military Games.

Zhang clocked a time of 8:29.83 for the win today, downing her 8:33.20 from 2014.  Teammate Dong Fuwei placed second in 8:38.41 with Vietnam’s Vien Nguyen claiming third in 8:39.91.

Zhang then took second behind teammate Gong Jie (2:08.99 – 2:09.63) in the women’s 200-meter fly.  Russia’s Svetlana Chimrova finished third in 2:12.61.

Brazil’s Etiene Medeiros (25.21) and Graciele Herrmann (25.48) finished 1-2 in the women’s 50-meter free.  Hermann previously set the meet record with a 25.08 last year.  China’s Suo Ran took third in 25.54.

Medeiros doubled up with a 1:02.20 to win the women’s 100-meter back. That’s a well off Fabiola Molina’s 2010 meet mark of 1:00.81.  Brazil’s Natalia de Luccas took second in 1:02.30 with China’s Song Yutong placing third in 1:02.46.

Russia’s Oleg Kostin just missed the meet record in the men’s 200-meter breast with a 2:10.58.  That’s just shy of Hugues Duboscq’s 2012 time of 2:10.23.  South Korea’s Choi Kyu Woong took second in 2:11.30 with Ukraine’s Dmytro Oseledets placing third in 2:12.75.

Poland’s Tomasz Polewka claimed the men’s 100-meter back in 54.82.  That’s a bit off Grigoriadis Aristides’ meet record of 54.38 in 2009.  Kazakhstan’s Alexandr Tarabrin finished second in 55.65 with Brazil’s Guilherme Guido snaring third in 55.88.

China’s Ning Zetao took home the men’s 50-meter free title in 22.35, a bit off the meet record of 22.06 set by Lorenzo Vismara of Italy back in 1999.

Brazil’s Henrique Martins placed second in 22.65, while Russia’s Nikita Konovalov and Ukraine’s Bogdan Plavin tied for third with 22.83s.

Russia’s Evgeny Koptelov topped the men’s 200-meter fly in 1:57.51, less than a second off Denis Pankratov’s 1995 meet record of 1:56.73.  China’s Yu Yingbiao (1:58.11) and Wang Pudong (1:58.50) placed second and third.

Brazil’s Pamela de Souza won the women’s 200-meter breast in 2:31.66.  That’s well off Qi Hui’s meet record of 2:29.23 from 2007, but enough to beat Suo’s 2:31.88.  China’s Fan Rong took third in 2:32.05.

China’s Fu Haifeng, Zu Lijun, Qiao Zhongyi and Ning Zetao won the men’s 800-meter free relay in a time of 7:20.85.  That swim smashed the previous meet record of 7:22.66 set by Germany in 2010.
