Women’s 800 Free Relay Lineups Posted for Worlds Finals; Ledecky Anchoring for USA

The lineups have been posted for the final of the women’s 800 free relay at the FINA World Championships.

The Americans qualified third for the final after resting four of the top five swimmers from their National Championships, Katie LedeckyLeah SmithMallory Comerford and Simone Manuel. For the final, Smith will lead off and be followed by Comerford, and Ledecky will anchor. They will join Melanie Margalis, who led off the prelims relay in 1:56.58.

Manuel, who will swim in the 100 free semi-finals during the session, will not participate on this relay at all.

Top-seeded China will bring on Ai Yanhan to lead off it’s relay and Li Bingjie to anchor after both made the semi-finals of the women’s 200 free. Australia, meanwhile, will add 200 free co-silver medalist Emma McKeon, as well as Ariarne Titmus, who finished fourth in the 400 free.

Katinka Hosszu, who won gold in the 200 IM Monday, will anchor Hungary’s relay after sitting out prelims.
