Wisconsin-Milwaukee Hires Brittany Sayler as Assistant Coach

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin, June 15. BRITTANY Sayler has been named the assistant coach for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's and women's swimming & diving teams, head coach Kyle Clements announced today. Sayler served in the same position on an interim basis during the 2010-11 campaign.

"I am so excited about the future of Milwaukee swimming & diving and I am thrilled to be a member of the staff for such a tremendous group of athletes," Sayler said. "The Panthers are building a tradition of success and I look forward to helping to contribute to the future of this program."

Under her watch a year ago, she helped lead the Milwaukee men to a repeat title at the Horizon League Championships and also saw the women place second. The two teams combined to claim first-team all-league honors seven times, second-team honors 13 times, break four Horizon League records (six times), 22 school records (28 times), eight freshmen records (14 times) and record 15 NCAA `B'-cut times at the championship meet alone, as well as resetting numerous other school and pool records over the course of the season.

"I am extremely happy that Brittany has accepted the assistant position once again," Clements said. "She was thrown into the program mid-season last year and handled it wonderfully. By conference time, she had found her footing as a college coach and was providing both the team and myself with invaluable insight and knowledge. She is one of the greatest assets of this program and her talents will be on display next year both in recruiting and on deck. The team and I could not be happier and the program will be better for it."

Sayler originally came to Milwaukee after serving as the Aquatics Director at Frankfort High School in Frankfort, Ind., and eight seasons with the Sugar Creek Swim Club in Crawfordsville, Ind.

A four-year swimmer at Ball State, Sayler qualified for the 2006 U.S. Open in the 100 and 200 backstroke. The team co-captain as a senior, she twice earned Academic All-Mid-American Conference honors and was nominated MAC Senior of the Year. In addition to claiming all-league second-team honors on two occasions, she broke school records in both backstroke events and was named the team's Most Outstanding Freshman her first season. Following her four years in the pool, she worked a season as the student assistant at Ball State.
