Winston Kuriger has committed to swim at Ohio State University.

Kuriger is fairly new to year round swimming, and his club coaches at the Ohio State Swim Club, believe he will have plenty of potential when he arrives on campus in the fall.

“I chose Ohio State because it was the best fit for me both academically and athletically. I am excited to continue my career for the next four years at The Ohio State University!” he said of his college decision.

At the Ohio High School State Championships, where he represented Olentangy High School, he finished ninth in the 100 freestyle (45.82) and tenth in the 100 backstroke (51.01).

His other top times are: 50 free (21.45), 200 free (1:42.78), 500 free (4:44.80), 200 back (1:53.92), 100 fly (51.52), 200 fly (1:56.27), and 200 IM (1:54.24).

The Buckeyes finished third at the 2016 Big Ten Championships. Kuriger’s current 100 freestyle time put him just outside of the team’s 2014-2015 (the most recent available) Top 10 times, while his 100 backstroke would have put him eighth on that same list.
