NEW COMMIT: Steven Thalblum of Stone Bridge High School in Ashburn, Virginia has committed to swim at William and Mary beginning in the fall of 2018. Thalblum also swims for Nation’s Capital Swim Club.

Thalblum is an IMer, butterflier, and breaststroker. His best SCY times are:

  • 200 Fly: 1:50.22
  • 200 IM: 1:51.23
  • 400 IM: 3:58.48
  • 100 Back: 50.46

At the 2017 Virginia 5A High School State Championships, Thalblum tied for second place in the 200 IM (1:51.23). He also finished second in the 100 butterfly in 50.52.

With his current best times, Thalblum would have made the A final at the 2017 CAA Championships in the 200 IM, 100 backstroke, and 200 fly. His best time in the 400 IM would have also made the B final. Thalblum looks to be a helpful point scorer for the Tribe once he arrives in Williamsburg.

On his verbal commitment, Thalblum said on CollegeSwimming:

“I am excited to verbally commit to swim for the William and Mary Tribe. Their academic excellence coupled with their competitive swimming program, will challenge me to excel and achieve my goals both in the classroom and in the pool. Go Tribe!”
