Who Are the 100 Greatest Swimmers and Coaches in College History? CSCAA Will Reveal Honorees

It’s been 100 years since the College Swimming Coaches Association of America was founded, and the CSCAA will celebrate its centennial with a special program that honors collegiate greatness. The CSCAA, which also has an annual awards program, is in the process of determining the 100 greatest swimmers and divers from the college ranks and the 100 greatest coaches.

The CSCAA has put together voting panels that will analyze the history of the sport in Division I, Division II and Division III. To ensure that athletes are not overlooked, various eras will be considered – ranging from the 1920s through the present day. Additionally, the best coaches will be recognized, including those who were pioneers and played a role in the development of the sport.

The organization plans to reveal its lists of honorees later this year, and continuing into 2022. Plans also include honoring 100 alumni who have made a significant impact in the world. These contributions may have been made in business, government, science, military, education and society.

“One hundred years ago, a handful of coaches assembled to create the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), the nation’s first intercollegiate coaching association,” reads an explanation on the CSCAA website. “This year, the CSCAA is proud to launch a year-long celebration of its rich history, showcasing the people who have made significant contributions both in the water and society and highlight opportunities the sport provides to thousands of student-athletes.”
