Following the first full finals session of the women’s Division I NCAA championships in Indianapolis, Swimming World spoke with several of the top performers from the session.

Among the highlights of the interview session, Katie Ledecky and Leah Smith each spoke about their remarkable performances in the 500 free, when each swam best times by over a second and improved their standings as the two fastest performers ever in the event.

During the interviews, each explained how they approached each other after the race when they finished more than seven seconds ahead of the field.
