Seniors DJ Bradshaw (Reisterstown, Md./Calvert Hall), Charles Logan (Durham, N.C./Riverside), and Lucas Morgan (Allendale, N.J./Northern Highlands Regional) will serve as the captains of the Washington College men’s swim team for the 2015-16 season, while senior Cate McMenamin (Souderton, Pa./Souderton Area) and junior Ellen Maxwell (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) will do the same for the women’s team.

Bradshaw is President of the College’s Student-Athlete Mentors and will chair the Centennial Conference’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for the 2015-16 academic year.

Bradshaw is the Shoremen’s seventh-fastest swimmer ever in the 200 freestyle and won a bronze medal in the 200 freestyle relay at the 2014 Centennial Conference Championships. He has scored points in five individual events over the course of his first three conference championship meets and was named the team’s Most Improved Swimmer last season. He is majoring in Psychology.

Logan is the Shoremen’s second-fastest swimmer ever in the 100 backstroke, third-fastest ever in the 200 backstroke, and ninth-fastest ever in the 100 butterfly. He is also a member of the Shoremen’s school-record 200 medley relay team.

He has won four relay medals and scored points in individual events seven times at Centennial Conference Championship meets. He was named the Shoremen’s Most Improved Swimmer as a sophomore. Logan is majoring in Political Science.

Morgan holds the school records in the 400 individual medley, 1000 freestyle, and 1650 freestyle. He is also among the Shoremen’s top five fastest swimmers ever in four other events.

He has won five individual medals – including a gold in the 200 breaststroke in 2015 – and two relay medals at Centennial Conference Championship meets. He has also reached the “A” final in individual events four other times at championship meets.

Morgan was named the team’s Co-MVP last season, is a two-time Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll qualifier, and is a six-time Shoreman of the Week. He is majoring in Business Management.

For the Shorewomen, McMenamin has been an important part of the team for three years as one of the squad’s top backstrokers. She also earned a spot on the 2015 Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll.

She is completing the Education program at Washington College and will be a second-generation team captain at the school; her father Patrick McMenamin ’87 was a captain of the men’s soccer team his senior year.

Maxwell ranks among the Shorewomen’s eight fastest swimmers ever in seven different individual events. She was named the team’s MVP and earned a spot on the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll last season.

She has scored points in individual events five times at Centennial Conference Championship meets and is a five-time Shorewoman of the Week. She is majoring in Biology and Environmental Science.

Both teams will open their 2015-16 season with a home Centennial Conference meet against Franklin & Marshall Saturday, October 31st. In 2014-15, the men posted a school record-tying 9-1 dual-meet record and their first second-place finish at the Centennial Conference Championships in 20 years.
