Wang Lizhuo has swept the breaststroke events at the 2016 Chinese Summer National Championships. On day two he swam a National Record breaking time of 59.60. This was just faster than the 59.64 he clocked at April’s Olympic Trials.

In day three’s 200 breaststroke, he clocked a 2:10.95 to win that event. In April, he posted a 2:11.86.

On the women’s side, Suo Ran won the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.47 while He Yun topped the 200 in 2:29.54.

Zhang Heng won the men’s 100 butterfly with a 53.69 while Wang Pudong touched first in the 200 in 2:00.50.

Yang Jun Xuan was victorious in the women’s 100 butterfly with a 59.76. The 200 champion was Lu Siyu (2:11.32).

Bi Wenxin grabbed the women’s 400 freestyle title in 4:12.71. Wu Yue (55.23) earned the win in the 100. She was second in the 50 with a 25.58. Li Zhesi won the shorter sprint, stopping the clock in 25.28.

With the upcoming Olympic Games, many of China’s top swimmers are not at this summer’s National Championships.

Something definitely has been lost in translation.
56.90 is not faster than 56.64.
More to the point, Wang Lizhou didn’t obliterate Adam Peaty’s stunning world record of 57.92.,
Even if Wang is once again under the influence of clenbuterol, the bronchodilator for asthma patients (and aerobic capacity booster) that he previously received a warning for, he didn’t swim a 56.
I’m guessing that the actual times were 59.60 and 59.64.
