Wandratsch Sets IRONMAN Triathlon Swimming World Record

KARNTEN, Austria, July 26. CHRISTOF Wandratsch set the pace at the IRONMAN Austria Triathlon on July 16 in Karnten, Austria at world-record speed, swimming the 2.4 mile start to the race in 41 minutes and 26 seconds. Wandratsch led the pack by 2 minutes and 50 seconds out of the water into the bike course. Making the world record official, he finished the triathlon in 10 hours and 9 minutes, putting him in 251st place overall out of the 2200 competitors.

This is not Wanderatsch’s first world swimming record. On August 2, 2005, the German swam across the English Channel’s approximately 21 miles in 7 hours, 3 minutes and 52 seconds, 14 minutes faster than the previous record holder.
