Vsevolod Zanko Moves to 10th In World in 100 Breast

Vsevolod Zanko won the men’s 100-meter breaststroke title at the 2016 Russian Nationals.

Zanko, one of three swimmers to clear 1:00, won in 59.72. That swim pushed him to 10th in the world rankings as he also cleared the Russian Olympic cut of 59.99.

Kirill Prigoda and Anton Chupkov tied for the second Olympic roster spot by tying for second with 59.94s. Both times are under the Russian Olympic qualifying time with just two spots open for the team. The tiebreaker for Russia is whoever swam faster in semis. That means Prigoda earns the second spot, 1:00.17 – 1:00.55, for Russia.

Ilya Khomenko (1:00.01), Andrei Nikolaev (1:00.21), Oleg Kostin (1:00.70), Aleksandr Palatov (1:00.82) and Rustam Gadirov (1:00.88) also swam in the finale.
