[VIDEO] Uganda Swimming Federation Celebrates FINA World Aquatics Day

Earlier this month the Uganda Swimming Federation (USF) took time to celebrate the 2017 FINA World Aquatics Day. The celebrations took place at the Ggaba landing site and at the Rainbow International School, Kansanga.

Max Kanyerezi, secretary of the USF and coordinator of the celebrations, explained to New Vision,

“We have lost many of our people as a result of a lack of knowledge about swimming. So the idea was to have mass participation and create awareness on water safety and swimming for life. It was also to encourage people to embrace swimming as a healthy life skill something that will help lessen the deaths rates brought about by drowning.”

Water polo and swimming activities highlighted large portions of the day, including educational sessions on the benefits of swimming as a life skill.
