Olivia Smoliga finished on the wrong end of a close finish in the 100 back final Saturday night at the TYR Pro Swim Series meet in Atlanta, fading towards the end of the race, but she was still excited about her time of 59.14.

After the race, Smoliga explained how she’s been emphasizing backstroke more in her weights program, and she discussed how she’s handled not being a part of the college team as they go through high-energy championship season. Smoliga also discussed the evolution of the Georgia pro group and how Missy Franklin’s addition has helped.
