IRVINE, California, August 6. THE emotions were swirling for Cierra Runge after her swims at U.S. Nationals on Wednesday. Runge finished second in the women’s 800 free in a time of 8:24.69, qualifying for her first major national team, and she will swim at Pan Pacs in Australia later this month. Runge talked to Swimming World after the race about her eventful evening and also her transition from 50 and 100 free as her focus events into the world of distance.
