Westchester Aquatic Club head coach Carle Fierro was one of ten coaches honored as a finalist for Age Group Coach of the Year at the ASCA World Clinic in Ft. Lauderdale, and she took a few minutes to sit down with Swimming World before leaving town.

Fierro explained why she founded her own team years ago and how that club has grown to the point where she, as the head coach, has received national recognition. She also discussed coaching one Olympic Trials qualifier (Kate Douglass) and the process of sending her swimmers off to college.

Thanks SW for the opportunity to be interviewed – I forgot to mention Rachel Stratton-Mills who allowed Kate Douglass and I to take along with her for our 1st Big Meet, the Austin Grand Prix where Kate made her 1st Olympic Trials Cut ! Rachel, I can’t thank you enough for all your guidance and support !
