Just as she did at the Pan American Games last month in Toronto, Caitlin Leverenz swept the IM events at U.S. Nationals in San Antonio. While she did come up short of her fourth-ranked 4:35.46 from Pan Ams, Leverenz’ final time of 4:38.81 was enough to defeat fellow podium finishers Sarah Henry and Madisyn Cox.

Following the race, Leverenz talked about her race plan that saw her be aggressive on the backstroke, her traditional weak stroke, and what changes she has made to improve that stroke. Leverenz also explained why she has more motivation than usual to get back into training and prepare for the Olympic season.
