BOWLING GREEN, Ohio, September 26. THE Bowling Green State University swimming and diving team held their annual Orange and Brown intrasquad meet Friday afternoon at Cooper Pool. The Orange team defeated the Brown team, 127.50-112.50 in 13 events.

Members of the winning team this season were Victoria Griffin, Hannah Newman, Tara Capouch, Maya Skorupski, Maria Galic, Sadie Ahlers, Daniela Carrillo, Stephanie Boyle, Nicole Hranchook, Natalie Criswell, Kayla Effinger, and Chrissy Sharkus.

“There was obviously a lot of different things going on, especially with the younger swimmers,” said Head Coach Petra Martin. “Everybody got pointers throughout the meet with what they still need to be improving on. The times were pretty good for today, but we definitely still have a lot of work to do.”

Individually, sophomore Griffin won four events including anchoring the 400 freestyle relay. Last season, Griffin won three events for the Orange team. Carrillo also won two events, competing for the Orange squad. On the Brown team, freshman Estela Davis won three events and Jordan Bullock won two events in the meet. Freshman Devan Hennig won the 1-meter diving competition with a score of 86.05 in three dive rounds.

“Devan is progressing well,” said dive coach Alex Gauvin. “I was happy with what I saw. This is a bulding year for us as a team and I think these girls will help us lay a solid foundation upon which to build a great program.”

The Falcons next compete at the Tom Stubbs Relays, hosted by BGSU on Oct. 3. The annual Alumni Meet will also be held at Cooper Pool the morning of Oct. 4.

Building and foundation sounds great starting points. Know the weaknesses and propagate the strengths. Girls are more committed and dedicated. They are stronger than men but men are more powerful. Keep going . You have great building blocks.
