USC Swimming and Diving Teams Stop Arizona State, Stay Undefeated

LOS ANGELES – The USC swimming and diving teams swept Pac-12 rival Arizona State on Friday night, with the men picking up a 165-125 win and the women taking a 169-127 victory. Both the men’s and women’s teams are now 3-0 in dual meets this season.

Andrea Kropp, Jasmine Tosky and Pawel Furtek led the way for the Trojans with two individual wins each, while Arizona State’s Alysha Bush and Zac Dalby also doubled.

Kropp posted the top times of the day in the women’s 200 fly (2:02.33) and 200 breast (2:14.11), while Tosky had the fastest 200 back (2:01.20) and 200 IM (2:01.87). Freshman Pawel Furtek contributed two victories in the men’s 1000 free (9:12.98) and 500 free (4:32.92).

For Arizona State, Dalby got to the wall first in the men’s 200 fly (1:49.71) and 200 IM (1:53.27). Bush picked up a win in a very close 50 free heat, stopping the clock in 23.61 to touch out three other swimmers who finished within .13 of her. After the diving break, she earned another close victory in the 100 free, by .05 over USC’s Kendyl Stewart. Bush touched in 51.20, with Stewart second in 51.25.

USC opened the meet with a sweep of the 400 medley relays, as Hannah Weiss, Andrea Kropp, Kendyl Stewart and Jasmine Tosky won the women’s race in 3:39.77 and Luca Spinazzola, Ridge Altman, Dylan Carter and Santo Condorelli topped the men’s heat in 3:14.40.

Overall, USC won 20 of the 32 events contested. Michael Domagala (200 free, 1:38.95), Hannah Weiss (100 back, 54.62), Luca Spinazzola (100 back, 48.56), Ridge Altman (100 breast, 56.26), Dylan Carter (50 free, 20.13), Santo Condorelli (100 free, 44.40), Ralph Tribuntsov (200 back, 1:47.86), Chelsea Chenault (500 free, 4:55.94) and Lucy Worrall (100 fly, 55.71) also won swimming events for the Trojans.

Haley Ishimatsu (1-meter diving, 322.88), Dashiell Enos (3-meter diving, 362.10) and Collin Pollard (1-meter diving, 377.85) picked up wins in diving for USC.

In addition to the double wins by Bush and Dalby, the Sun Devils got wins from Anna Olasz (1000 free, 10:01.52), Juanita Barreto (200 free, 1:50.17), Jorie Caneta (100 breast, 1:02.06), Thibault Capitaine (200 breast, 2:02.17), Tadas Duskinas (100 fly, 48.65) and Mara Aicoboae (3-meter diving, 333.30).

The Sun Devils swept the 200 free relays to close the meet, as Alysha Bush, Marina Spadoni, Juanita Barreto and Melanie Busch touched in 1:33.82 and Patrick Park, Tadas Duskinas, Thomaz Martins and Barkley Perry swam a 1:22.16.
