USA Taking Roster of 11 to 2016 FINA World Junior Open Water Champs

Today USA Swimming announced a roster of 11 swimmers who will compete in the 2016 FINA World Junior Open Water Championships.

The event will be held July 16-18 in Hoorn, Netherlands. Swimmers ages 14-15 will compete a 5K, while 16-17 year olds race a 7.5 K, and those in the 18-19 age division swim a 10K.

For the women, Hayler Pike of the Razorback Aquatics and Eliot Kennedy of Waves Bloomington will compete in the 5K. Pike’s older sister Taylor Pike will join Bolles’ Kensey McMahon in the 7.5K. Razorback coach Todd Mann is the team’s assistant coach.

Swim Florida’s Kendall Brent and Davis Arden Racing Team’s Chenoa Devine will represent the US in the women’s 10K.

For the men, Ivan Puskovitch from Episcopal Academy Aquatics will be the sole representative in the 5K.

Simon Lamar of FAST and Golden West’s Michael Brinegar will compete in the 7.5K. Nitro’s Taylor Abbott and Sandpipers of Nevada’s Riley Molina will be in the 10K. Ron Aitken, also of Sandpipers of Nevada, will serve as the team’s head coach.

The US team was selected base on results from the 2016 USA Swimming Open Water National Championships held earlier this month.
