SANTA CLARITA, California, July 25. THE first night of swimming at the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center kicked off with timed finals in the women's 800m free and men's 1500m free.
Erin Emery of Sandpipers of Nevada won the women's 800m free by almost seven seconds, touching in 8:49.55 for the victory. Aquazot's Brittany Kahn swam an 8:56.44 to take second, while Irvine Nova's Brittany Kampfer rounded out the top three in 8:58.97.
Canyons Aquatic Club's Matthew Johnson captured the men's 1500m free title in his home pool with a 15:56.93, the only time under 16 minutes. Sandpipers of Nevada's Hannon Daigler posted a 16:03.05 to take second, ahead of teammate Logan Houck (16:04.84).
