USA Swimming Sectionals, Gainesville: Teresa Crippen, Bradley Ally Double on Day Two

GAINESVILLE, Florida, July 17. THE second day of long course meter swimming at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Gainesville, Fla., featured a pair of doubles.

Germantown's Teresa Crippen set the meet record in the women's 100 fly with a 1:00.15. The time cleared the 1:00.56 set by Alex Forrester last year. Florida's Sarah Bateman placed second in 1:01.28, while Saint Petersburg's Kaitlin Frehling claimed third in 1:02.06. Pine Crest's Bradley Ally touched in 52.73 in the men's 100 fly. The performance clipped the meet record of 52.86 set by Ryan Lochte last year. Gator's Omar Pinzon (53.19) and Shaune Fraser (54.03) placed second and third.

Crippen doubled up with a 4:45.84 in the women's 400 IM. That time not only won the event, but smashed the meet record of 4:48.93 set by Sara McLarty in 2003. Gator's Angela Ballatore took second in 4:47.21, under the old mark, while West Florida's Katie Kastes claimed third in 4:52.33. Ally posted the same double as Crippen with a 4:28.78 for the men's 400 IM title. Davie's Yoelvi Pedraza took second in 4:32.75, while Gulf Coast's Harry Stephenson finished third in 4:34.19.

Gator's Jamie Bohunicky matched her preliminary swim with a 2:02.03 to win the women's 200 free. Teammate Melania Costa Schmid finished a close second in 2:02.19, while West Florida's Claire Thompson touched third in 2:02.35. Daytona Beach's Rex Tullius edged Gator's Shaune Fraser, 1:49.00 to 1:49.26, in the men's 200 free. Gator's Brett Fraser and Conor Dwyer tied for third with matching 1:49.75s.

The Bolles School went 1-2 in the women's 100 breast. Alyssa Bodin won in 1:13.84, while Kendall Sieron touched second in 1:15.14. AK Sharks' Gabriel Garcia finished third in 1:15.95. Jiminez Alvarado of The Bolles School topped the men's 100 breast in 1:03.73. Club Seminole's Gary Thacker (1:03.95) and Corey Swanson (1:04.12) completed the top three.
